New photovoltaic system for PENNY in Brunn am Gebirge

PENNY continues to invest in sustainability: With the new photovoltaic system, the store in Brunn am Gebirge will from now on independently supply itself with 100% green electricity. Surplus electricity is fed into the public grid. The new plant generates approx. 36,000 kWh per year - which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of 9 households. In the future, PENNY will continue to expand its sustainable commitment to the environment.

Sustainability has been an integral part of PENNY's corporate philosophy for years. The latest project with which PENNY underlines its commitment to the environment is the recently completed photovoltaic system on the roof of the PENNY store in Brunn am Gebirge. Equipped with 102 photovoltaic modules, the new plant generates a green electricity yield of approximately 36,000 kWh per year, which could supply 9 local households per year. "We are proud of our new photovoltaic plant, with which we sustainably produce green electricity without any CO2 emissions. The load requirement of the plant is exactly designed to meet the market's needs. In addition, isolated surplus can be fed into the public grid," explains Ralf Teschmit, PENNY CEO.

The PENNY store in Brunn am Gebirge is particularly suitable for the new system, as the building fulfils both the static and structural requirements. In addition, the market town of Brunn am Gebirge is also committed to sustainability and has already installed photovoltaic systems on several public buildings. "I am very pleased that PENNY has chosen the market in Brunn am Gebirge as the location for the new photovoltaic system. Together, we are now making an important contribution to climate protection and the further expansion of sustainable energy sources," said Dr. Andreas Linhart, Mayor of Brunn am Gebirge, about the photovoltaic plant.

With the new photovoltaic system, PENNY continues to invest in sustainability and the environment. The entire branch network is already supplied with 100% green electricity throughout Austria. In addition, the majority of the stores are heated in a resource-saving manner via heat recovery from refrigeration units in use. In addition, all new and renovated PENNY stores are equipped with LED lighting. PENNY will continue to strengthen its commitment in the coming years. For example, from 2022 onwards, the majority of refrigerated units will be equipped with doors.
