Plant-based nutrition is in vogue. Whether for ecological, ethical or health reasons - more and more people in Austria are consciously eating a vegetarian or vegan diet. PENNY proves with its new own brand "Food For Future" that a plant-based diet, as often wrongly assumed, is by no means one-sided or boring. "Vegan nutrition is no longer a niche movement but has arrived in society. With our new own brand "Food For Future", we are now showing how uncomplicated, varied and, above all, delicious plant-based nutrition can be and offer delicacies for vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians and everyone who would like to try something new. And the best thing about our new products: Not only do they all bear the Vegan Flower seal, but they are also climate-neutral. So it tastes especially good!", Ralf Teschmit, PENNY CEO, is pleased about the launch of the private label.
Vegan variety with PENNY
Whether vegan minced meat, vegan meat sausage that is enjoyable both hot and cold, juicy burger patties based on peas or vegan coffee - with "Food For Future" PENNY focuses on variety instead of renunciation. Delicious yoghurt alternatives in different flavours are also waiting for PENNY customers. The soy beans used come from European cultivation. PENNY also offers tasty cheese alternatives for a vegan snack in the form of coconut oil-based slices. The "Food For Future" range is rounded off with hearty classics such as lasagne, pizza and nuggets. For those with a vegan sweet tooth, there is ice cream in various flavours to try, among other things. The purely plant-based assortment of PENNY's own brand comprises a total of 22 different products at the launch and thus does not make you miss food of animal origin at all.
Climate-friendly enjoyment with "Food For Future
The new, climate-neutral private label "Food For Future" is good for both people and the environment. PENNY demonstrates responsibility and advocates a climate-friendly future. For example, the cultivation of the plant-based products on which the "Food For Future" range is based already emits fewer greenhouse gases than the animal-based alternatives. In addition, the brand discounter has worked with ClimatePartner to calculate the CO2 emissions that occur from the production to the disposal of the "Food For Future" products. These are 100% offset by supporting certified climate protection projects.
With the protection of deadwood trees in the Karwendel Nature Park, local biodiversity is promoted, which not only preserves important nutrients in the forest, but also stores CO2. In addition, PENNY supports the renaturation of the Karwendel moors, which were drained in the 1970s. As part of a nature conservation project in the Brazilian state of Pará, 86,000 hectares of forest are also being protected, thus providing the local population with an additional source of income. In Mataven, Colombia, PENNY supports the indigenous population in protecting their forests from deforestation and other negative impacts. In addition to making an important contribution to climate protection, this also creates added value for the sustainable development of the three regions.
