Since 2012, the non-profit educational initiative Teach For Austria has been supporting young people at socially disadvantaged schools in Vienna, Lower Austria and Upper Austria. Together with the Vienna Hobby Lobby, 100 students aged ten to 16 are supported for ten days during the so-called summer weeks. This year, they were held from 25 to 29 July and 1 to 5 August. The morning started with a refresher course in English, German and mathematics, while the afternoon focused on the young adults' potential and strengths in extracurricular activities such as acting, basketball, kickboxing and street art. The offer was free of charge, with the aim of relieving parents of the burden of looking after their children during the holiday period.

Healthy snack for learning success

In order to ensure that the young people were well fed during the summer weeks, BILLA provided each child with a daily snack bag containing a roll, fresh fruit and muesli bars free of charge, as it did last year. These were freshly prepared every day by the staff at the BILLA stores at Thomas Klestil Platz 15/Erdbergstraße 139 (Landstraße) and Erlachgasse 5 (Favoriten) and delivered to the schools at Kempelengasse 20 (Landstraße) and Markhofgasse 19 (Favoriten).

A healthy snack not only gives energy for the day, but also contributes significantly to learning success.

Stefan Weinlich BILLA Head of Sales

BILLA Head of Sales Stefan Weinlich explains: "We are very pleased that we were once again able to support the Teach For Austria summer weeks together with the Vienna Hobby Lobby. A healthy snack not only gives energy for the day, but also contributes significantly to learning success. Therefore, it was a great concern for us to provide 1,000 snack bags for the participating children again this year."

Severin Broucek, Managing Director of Teach For Austria, is pleased about the support: "The Teach For Austria x Vienna Hobby Lobby Summer Weeks were once again focused on promoting the strengths of young people from schools with a high socio-economic burden. We are very pleased that BILLA supported us again this year with its donation of snack bags. A big thank you also goes to the employees who prepared the packets for our children every day.
