Stefan Benedikt knew that he wanted to be self-employed one day right from the start of his apprenticeship as a retail salesman. He opened his first ADEG store in the municipality of Straßburg in November 2022 at the age of 23. When the mayor of Micheldorf, just ten minutes away, contacted him a year later because the local grocer there was retiring, Stefan Benedikt didn't hesitate for long and seized the opportunity. On December 14, the doors of his second location finally opened for the first time: "The great thing about my job is that you see a purpose in your work every day and know that people are counting on you. For this reason, I knew straight away that I wanted to take care of local supply in Micheldorf. What is very important to me, both here and in my other store in Strasbourg, is the team spirit and the fact that people can come to me with individual requests. Fortunately, at ADEG you can still really be a shopkeeper, which makes every day special," says Stefan Benedikt.

Engagement for community life

As the community of Micheldorf is also very important to him outside of the store, all local associations can rely on Stefan Benedikt's active support. "The organizations get everything from us on a delivery bill, and they also receive goods on consignment. This means that they can return anything that has been ordered in excess and will not be charged accordingly," explains the 24-year-old. REWE Wholesale Managing Director Jürgen Öllinger is delighted: "I am very pleased that we are now working with such a committed and far-sighted merchant as Stefan Benedikt in Micheldorf as well as in the municipality of Strasbourg. He stands 100% for the values that have always characterized ADEG: A passion for local food, a commitment to the region and a feeling for his fellow human beings. I wish the entire team all the best and good luck for the future!"

Local product diversity

ADEG Benedikt customers can now look forward to a wide range of products, from the "Clever" own brand to "Ja! Natürlich" organic products. As the only local supplier in the municipality, Stefan Benedikt is also keen to support local suppliers. For this reason, he sources as many goods as possible from local businesses, including honey, bread, pastries, eggs, bacon, drinks and Carinthian cheese noodles. "Products from the immediate vicinity are simply of an incomparably high quality. Not only we know this, but also our customers, who are placing more and more value on the origin of their food. In addition, by offering a local range, we ensure that the added value remains in the region and that unnecessary delivery trips and CO2 emissions are avoided," says Stefan Benedikt. An attitude that Mayor Helmut Schweiger supports: "I am delighted that with Stefan Benedikt we have a local supplier in the municipality that thinks outside the box and is a reliable partner for everyone in Micheldorf. I wish both him and his employees all the best and, of course, good business!"

ADEG Benedikt is open Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 12:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00 and on Saturdays from 07:00 to 12:00 at Hauptstraße 34, 9322 Micheldorf (St. Veit an der Glan district).
