Werner Hanser ran his own ADEG store in the tranquil town of Virgen in East Tyrol for 20 years, with his daughter Anja Steinkasserer at his side for 16 years. Just in time for his well-deserved retirement, he handed over the local supermarket to the next generation on November 1, with the official opening ceremony taking place on November 30. "What I've always really liked about our ADEG store is the friendly atmosphere and the way we work together. People don't just shop and rush past each other, but also linger between the shelves and chat to each other. This creates an almost family atmosphere, which makes the daily work something very special and allows me to get to know our customers and their needs even better," explains the self-employed ADEG saleswoman.
Social engagement
As the community of Virgen is also very close to her heart outside the store door, all local associations can rely on Anja Steinkasserer's active support. Locality has priority
In addition to social interaction, Anja Steinkasserer also attaches great importance to supporting local suppliers. For this reason, she makes sure to source as many products as possible from producers in the immediate vicinity. They currently supply between 15 and 20 regional businesses with Schlipfkrapfen, smoked trout, gray cheese, homemade jams and much more. "Regionality is a trend that is here to stay. We are noticing that it is simply becoming more and more important to our customers where their food comes from. We are also pleased about this, as we are lucky enough to be able to source top-quality products directly from the neighborhood. This allows us to strengthen regional value creation and avoid unnecessary CO2 emissions," says Anja Steinkasserer.
Eco-friendly technology
As a modern local supplier, she not only considers environmental protection in her product range, but also when renovating her store. In order to increase energy efficiency at ADEG Steinkasserer, the self-employed ADEG saleswoman had the entire lighting replaced with LED lights and the refrigeration technology replaced with modern appliances, significantly reducing the store's electricity consumption. ADEG Steinkasserer also has the first ADEG self-service checkout in the whole of East Tyrol. "A big thank you to Mr. Werner Hanser for his decades of commitment! For a small community like Virgen, a functioning local supply is indispensable. I am delighted that this important task is now in the hands of Anja Steinkasserer and wish her and all employees every success," said Dietmar Ruggenthaler, Mayor of Virgen.
ADEG Steinkasserer is open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 18:30 and on Saturdays from 07:30 to 17:00 at Virgental Straße 60, 9972 Virgen.
