Greenpeace market check: BILLA PLUS offers the best range for veggie brunch

Brunch is very popular in this country and is often celebrated in a purely plant-based way. As part of its current market check, the environmental protection organisation Greenpeace tested the largest Austrian supermarkets for their range of purely plant-based brunch options. Quality criteria such as the organic range, the origin of the main ingredients and the selection of purely plant-based foods as well as their labelling were assessed. The tested items must be available in more than 80 per cent of the shops throughout the year. BILLA PLUS emerged as the test winner with the best range, while BILLA came third. Both received a ‘good’ rating from Greenpeace.

Veggie brunch: from plant-based sausage to plant-based egg dishes

Whether it's crispy croissants, fine jam and a glass of sparkling wine or juicy sausages, egg dishes and fresh rolls - the plant-based range leaves nothing to be desired at brunch. The Greenpeace market check shows: For the most part, it is the own brands that are convincing. For example, Ja! Natürlich soya drink and Ja! Natürlich oat drink, Vegavita Bio Vegrano, Vegavita Bratwürstel, Vegavita Streichwurst fein, Ja! Natürlich hummus and BILLA organic orange juice, all of which are labelled with the V-label, scored highly in the test. The BILLA immer gut croissant for pre-baking and the BILLA organic nut nougat cream also contributed to the top rankings in the Greenpeace market check.
