PENNY management runs a store in Styria

What would the brand discounter PENNY be without its employees? The freshness heroes provide fresh fruit and vegetables every day, the butchers prepare the customers' individual meat orders from “Noise-to-tail” and the everyday heroes accompany the daily PENNY shopping with a smile. The PENNY management and PENNY head office employees will be doing all of this on store day on April 10 in Feldbach.

PENNY managers take over store operations for a day
A day of recognition: employees are rewarded with a day off and EUR 500 for joint activities

While the management and central employees take over the store, the store employees have time off. In addition, there is a €500 budget for a team activity in recognition of their tireless work and commitment.

For the 6th time, the PENNY management is showing how appreciation towards its employees works. PENNY demonstrates how valuable each person is to the company on its own store days. For one day, the management swaps their office routine for everyday retail life and lends a hand where it is needed. For example, ten central employees led by Kai Pataky and Mike Podobrin stock goods, provide fresh bread and pastries as well as fruit and vegetables at the market stall and offer PENNY customers the usual PENNY service on site. The employees of the respective store enjoy an extra day of vacation during this time.

The store in Feldbach near Graz was selected as part of an internal competition in which the best store is chosen each year based on selected criteria. This year, the focus was on the optimal availability of goods on the shelves at PENNY.

Being right in the store and getting stuck in has always been particularly important to Kai Pataky: “Our team does extraordinary things every day to offer our customers a varied and appealing shopping experience. Our employees are the cornerstone of our success. It is therefore particularly important to me to continue this wonderful tradition of the store day and to once again stand in the store myself and be even closer to our customers.”

This initiative not only reflects his firm belief that direct store experience is essential to promote a genuine and employee-centric company culture, but also emphasizes the central role of every team member in the success and customer experience at PENNY.

The store days are a thank you to the PENNY employees for their daily work in the PENNY stores. Teamwork is an important component and the seven-person team at the PENNY store in Feldbach showed how committed they are to their customers and to each other every day.
