In December 2023, as part of a joint initiative between BILLA and BIPA and Disney, a donation of 30,000 euros was made to the Make-A-Wish® charity organisation. Thanks to the support of BILLA and BIPA, three young people were able to realise their heartfelt wishes and bring a little normality and joy into their challenging everyday lives.n.

The heartfelt wishes of Ana, Yakub and Ella Marie came true thanks to BILLA and BIPA

For 18-year-old Ana from Georgia, who had to move to Austria due to a phylloid tumour, a long-awaited wish has been fulfilled: A mobile phone with as large a screen as possible to keep in touch with her friends in her home country and to enable her to watch films or read books during long stays in hospital. She received her new mobile phone with tears of joy and can now make her long stays in hospital a little more pleasant.

Similarly, 17-year-old Yakub, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, was able to fulfil his greatest wish. Yakub, who is currently reorienting himself and looking for an apprenticeship as a car mechanic, wanted his own gaming laptop. This would enable him to play his favourite games with his friends at the same level. The laptop was presented to him during a surprise visit to his home, giving him an unforgettable moment of joy.

Ella Marie, also 18 years old, was also able to realise a deep wish thanks to the support of BILLA and BIPA. As an enthusiastic sportswoman and participant in the World Championships in rhythmic gymnastics, she dreamed of visiting Japan. During her tough chemotherapy period, the thought of travelling to Tokyo gave her strength and hope. After the trip, Ella Marie wrote in a letter: "I would like to thank you again from the bottom of my heart for your support! Thank you for helping me fulfil such a big wish!"

Michael Paterno, member of the BILLA Management Board, emphasises the importance of this cooperation: "Our social commitment - such as for Make-A-Wish® - is a core part of our corporate philosophy. We are proud to be able to realise such positive changes in the lives of these brave children." Markus Geyer, BIPA Managing Director, adds: "It is deeply touching to see how our support directly improves the lives of children. Seeing the joy in their eyes is a true confirmation of our commitment. We are determined to continue supporting such important projects."

Birgit Fux, Make-A-Wish Managing Director, is delighted: "We are very grateful for the generous support from Billa and Bipa for our wish children in Austria. It is only thanks to donations like these that we are able to fulfil the heartfelt wishes of seriously ill children and thus have a positive impact on their recovery together."
