The outdoor areas of the store are used in the best possible way in terms of sustainability and thus also contribute to the reduction of heat islands. The “greenest” BILLA at Pilotengasse 76 in Donaustadt will reopen in November this year. But there is still a lot of work to be done before then. Hot summer days on site are particularly challenging for the construction workers and employees. That's why BILLA is providing them with cool refreshments and culinary treats. BILLA board member Robert Nagele recently lent a hand and brought fruit, sausage and cheese sandwiches, ice cream, chilled drinks, muesli bars and more to the construction site.

Robert Nagele, BILLA board member: “Building a store using new ecological construction methods is a real team effort. The sustainable measures from our BILLA greening handbook are being implemented for the first time on this scale, which will provide important insights not only during subsequent operation, but also during the construction phase. There is still a lot to do so that our 'greenest' BILLA store can open in the fall as planned. Especially on hot days like these, we support the dedicated team on site with cool refreshments and refreshing snacks.”
