Marcel Haraszti, CEO of REWE International AG, was also on site: “Our strong new partnership with Admira Wacker for young talents and the academy was celebrated with impressive commitment on the soccer pitch. We also live this hands-on mentality in our support for young talents. For us, the cooperation is a significant expansion of the initiatives that we provide for the local sports scene and would like to expand even further in the future. After all, a healthy lifestyle and exercise go hand in hand, which is why it is important to us to actively support sports activities and clubs.”
Harald Mießner, BILLA Management Board member: “I am delighted that we have entered into this great partnership with Admira Wacker for young talents and the academy just a few kilometers from our BILLA headquarters in Wiener Neudorf. This not only strengthens the next generation of Austrian soccer, but also the neighborly togetherness in the region,” and smiles: ”We may have narrowly lost the legend match today, but the new partnership is a win-win situation for everyone involved. And we are of course open to a return match, before which we will intensify the training sessions.”
Victory for Dinamo Helfort in the BILLA Cup national final and 4,500 euros for "Spielerpass"
The BILLA Cup was launched in 2019 to find the best junior soccer teams in the U12 age group in Austria. A total of 407 matches were organized by BILLA. The venues were Steyregg, Neulengbach, Stockerau, Bergheim, Südstadt, Rückersdorf and Kalsdorf bei Graz, and on June 15 there was a girls-only cup in Jois. A total of 106 teams, all sponsored by BILLA, put their skills to the test, including ten all-girls teams. 1,150 boys and girls were part of the BILLA Cup and were delighted to receive great goodie bags and medals. In the regional matches, 14 teams qualified for the grand final, which took place on Saturday in the Datenpol Arena in Südstadt. Dinamo Helfort and WAF Brigittenau competed against each other, with Dinamo Helfort winning the national final 4:3 on penalties and taking the traveling trophy home to Ottakring. There was a raffle at all BILLA Cups, which generated around 10,000 euros for charitable organizations. The raffle at the national final on Saturday raised an additional 4,500 euros, which will be donated to "Spielerpass".
“We at BILLA would like to congratulate Dinamo Helfort on their well-deserved victory in the BILLA Cup 2024. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all 106 youth teams that took part in the Cup. It is a pleasure for us to offer the U12 footballers a platform where they can showcase their skills. At the same time, it is always important to us at BILLA to do good. We were also able to do this at the BILLA Cup with our raffles, which raised a total of 14,000 euros and were donated to Spielerpass, the SOS Children's Village and Jugend am Werk, among others,” says Harald Mießner.
Six producers from the region supplied soccer teams and the crowd at the weekend
One of the country's largest food retailers doesn't need to be told twice that playing soccer and cheering in the crowd makes you hungry. With six suppliers from the region, BILLA brought its local product diversity to the Datenpol Arena at the weekend. Harrer, San Lucar and Ogoralek, among others, had set up their stands on site.
