The customer rush for the FFP2 masks has been as great as the uncertainty of the population in the last few days. BILLA, MERKUR and PENNY are therefore offering every customer the first FFP2 mask free of charge from Monday, 25th January to Wednesday, 27th January. This offer is valid while stocks last at the respective location.

REWE International AG Executive Board Member Marcel Haraszti comments: "The demand for FFP2 masks has really been very high in the last few days. We have noticed that there is also a lot of uncertainty about the availability of FFP2 masks. Therefore, we have decided to counteract this and take some of the pressure off by providing our customers with the first FFP2 mask free of charge during the first days of compulsory FFP2 mask wearing starting on Monday. This will allow customers to shop with us safely and in compliance with the federal government regulations."

Over the past few days, there has been an increased demand for FFP2 masks across grocery stores. At the start of the compulsory wearing of FFP2 masks on Monday, 25th January, sufficient masks will be available. More than 5 million masks have already been delivered to BILLA, MERKUR and PENNY, and another 15 million have been ordered.  The masks will be delivered regularly. Where masks are temporarily out of stock, they will be replenished by local producers.
