REWE Group Austria intensifies focus on apprentice training

With around 2000 apprentices, REWE Group continues to be one of the largest apprentice trainers in Austria despite an exceptional year. BILLA, MERKUR, BIPA, PENNY, AGM and the REWE Group central companies invest specifically in apprentice training and support the initiative "zukunft.lehre.österreich." Future-proof and crisis-proof apprenticeships: 24 job profiles are offered, both apprenticeship with Matura, integrative apprenticeship and apprenticeship after Matura (dual academy) are possible.

REWE Group Austria offers stable and crisis-proof apprenticeships and jobs: Around 2,000 apprentices currently complete their apprenticeship every year at BILLA, MERKUR, PENNY, BIPA, ADEG, AGM and the REWE Group central companies. As one of the largest employers in the country, REWE Group in Austria thus accounts for a huge share of apprentices in the retail sector, almost 15%, and has almost doubled the number of apprenticeships in the last ten years - this share is expected to increase even further, despite the exceptional year and the numerous challenges posed by the Corona pandemic.   

Diversity and appreciation during training 

REWE Group Austria offers 24 different job profiles and a wide variety of opportunities for apprenticeship training. The fields of training include retail with a focus on food retailing, perfumery, delicatessen sales as well as the additional focus on "digital sales", food technician or operations logistics clerk, all the way to metal technology / mechanical engineering technology, systems catering specialist, application development - coding or professional driver. At PENNY - the only discount store with its own butcher - the apprenticeship as a meat seller is offered. In addition, the apprenticeship with Matura, the integrative apprenticeship as well as the apprenticeship after Matura (Dual Academy) are offered in all training companies. A possible change of company and numerous further training and promotion opportunities within REWE Group Austria are also possible after completion of the apprenticeship.   

Extras and bonuses for apprentices 

Depending on the training company, apprentices are offered additional extras such as bonuses for special achievements, extensive training and further education opportunities, internships abroad, excursions, events, pay above the collective and much more.

REWE Group Austria is a new member of the "zukunft.lehre.österreich." initiative. This independent, non-profit and cross-sector initiative aims to highlight the many advantages and opportunities of an apprenticeship and to draw young people's attention to this training option, while at the same time making the apprenticeship profession more valued again within society.
