REWE Group is a proud project partner in the City of Vienna's "Alles gurgelt" project

At the beginning of the year, "Alles gurgelt" - a joint project of the City of Vienna, WKO, BIPA, Lifebrain, Lead Horizon and Post to curb the pandemic - was launched. The extremely successful pilot phase has now been completed: So far, around 5,500 companies with more than 330,000 employees have registered for this project and requested or collected the free PCR test kits. As of March 26th, the free tests will be available to all Viennese households free of charge.

  • Free test issue exclusively in all 152 Viennese BIPA shops

  • Test delivery possible at BIPA, BILLA, MERKUR and PENNY in Vienna

With 152 locations in Vienna, BIPA ensures wide availability of the tests - in addition to BIPA, all BILLA, MERKUR and PENNY stores are also available for the distribution.

The logistical implementation of the "Alles gurgelt" project is a great challenge. And BIPA is taking on a pioneering role here: As a system-relevant company with a high density of shops - there are 152 in Vienna - BIPA makes an important contribution in order to make accessing tests easy and uncomplicated for all citizens. BIPA is thus the hub for dispensing the tests. In addition to BIPA, all BILLA, MERKUR and PENNY stores - and therefore around 560 locations - in Vienna are available for the distribution. Especially on Sundays, samples can also be handed in at 65 petrol station shops of BP-Merkur Inside, JET-Billa Stop & Shop and SHELL BILLA Unterwegs as well as at branches of the REWE Group with Sunday opening hours. Subsequently, the samples given are sent directly to the laboratory twice a day for evaluation.

"Regular testing is an important tool to fight the coronavirus. With "Alles gurgelt", there is the possibility in Vienna to be tested for the coronavirus twice a week free of charge using PCR testing procedures."

Marcel Haraszti REWE International AG Executive Board Member

"Regular testing is an important tool to fight the coronavirus. With "Alles gurgelt", there is the possibility in Vienna to be tested twice a week for the coronavirus free of charge using PCR test procedures. And to make this as easy as possible, we are happy to be available as a partner and ensure a smooth and low-threshold supply of test kits," says Marcel Haraszti, REWE International AG Executive Board Member.

It's simple: pick up the test, gargle, hand in the test - the result is delivered within 24 hours.

Up to four high-quality and reliable PCR tests per week and person can be collected from a BIPA shop in Vienna. The test is done at home - a detailed explanation is included in the test kit. If the test is handed in at one of our branches before 9 a.m., the result can be expected within 24 hours. Those who film themselves with the camera of their smartphone or laptop during the test will receive a certificate.

The tests are approved by the authorities and provide access to body-related services such as hairdressing or chiropody, among other things, and also serve as confirmation when crossing borders, for example when travelling.

BIPA contributes to the return to "normality"

"Based on the PCR test kits already handed out and the numerous positive customer feedbacks, the high acceptance and immense interest of the population is evident."

Thomas Lichtblau Spokesman of the BIPA management

"Based on the PCR test kits that have already been handed out and the numerous positive customer feedbacks, the high acceptance and immense interest of the population in the targeted testing is evident, which represents an important step towards containing the virus and can enable the safest possible everyday life until vaccination. Thus, we welcome the further roll-out of the joint project and are pleased to make our contribution in close coordination with the Austrian postal service, with whom we ensure the logistics", explains Thomas Lichtblau, spokesman of the BIPA management and project coordinator on the part of REWE Group, adding: "That way, we are one step closer to normal everyday life again."
