Carinthian BILLA PLUS employees donate 14,200 euros to Carinthian Children's Cancer Aid

On the occasion of the changeover from MERKUR to BILLA PLUS, employees in BILLA PLUS stores throughout Austria collected donations for a good cause - as part of an internal competition and in a variety of creative ways. For example, flea markets were organised, in-house specialities or surprise bags were sold for a donation, or customers were asked to donate food for local social markets or charitable institutions.

  • Employees from nine BILLA PLUS stores were able to raise the most money for a good cause in an internal fundraising competition. 

  • 9,200 Euros were collected through the sale of handmade cube-shaped gifts and cakes - these, together with the prize money of 5,000 Euros, were handed over to the Carinthian Children's Cancer Aid. 

  • In total, all BILLA PLUS stores across Austria donated 95,000 euros to good causes during the campaign. 

In total, the commitment of customers and BILLA PLUS employees in the course of the fundraising campaigns across Austria raised around 95,000 euros, all of which went to a good cause. The BILLA PLUS locations in Carinthia first took place in the internal fundraising marathon - they were the most diligent fundraisers. 

Sacher cubes and cakes for a good cause 

By selling sweet dice and handmade cakes, the teams of nine Carinthian BILLA PLUS stores were able to raise more than 9,200 euros in donations in April. As an appreciation for this extraordinary achievement, the winning stores were rewarded by BILLA with a prize money of 5,000 euros. Here, too, the employees demonstrated their social commitment and donated their winnings to the Carinthian Children's Cancer Aid. In total, 14,200 euros were handed over to the local association.   

BILLA Head of Sales Kurt Aschbacher is enthusiastic: "With this nice initiative we wanted to create an additional 'plus' for the region here in Carinthia and do something good in the sense of neighbourly cooperation. The fact that no less than 14,200 euros have been collected makes us incredibly proud. Many thanks to our generous customers and our store managers who, together with their colleagues in the Carinthian BILLA PLUS stores, have done a great job". 

Evelyne Ferra, chairwoman of the Carinthian Children's Cancer Aid, emphasises: "At this point I would like to say a big thank you to the entire BILLA family and praise for this great campaign. We are really pleased that the BILLA PLUS stores have made it possible for their customers to set a sign of solidarity to celebrate the changeover and, of course, also for this extraordinary sum."
