Press Release 7th December 2021

BILLA PLUS supports local toy retailers again

The weeks before Christmas are the most important time of the year for toy retailers. But at the moment, due to the current lockdown, the doors of shops all over Austria remain closed. Particularly bitter: Many retailers have already pre-ordered large quantities not only because of Christmas, but also because of the predicted supply bottlenecks, for which they can now hardly find sales opportunities.

  • Sales areas for toys are available in all 144 BILLA PLUS stores throughout Austria

  • In addition, selected store kitchens have been cleared to provide toy retailers with an additional outlet for their products during the lockdown

In order to support local toy retailers in a meaningful and energetic way in times like these, the BILLA family is once again making space available in all 144 BILLA PLUS stores throughout Austria so that retailers can sell their toys here. In addition, the currently closed market kitchens in selected BILLA PLUS stores were cleared to make room for the products of Spielwaren Heinz. From toys for babies and toddlers to classic board games, educational learning games, magic and acrobatics items, adventure sets or model kits, there is everything to make children's hearts beat faster.

"I am very pleased that we can offer local toy retailers a stage for selling their products, as we did last year, and conversely enable our customers to shop for presents before Christmas."

Harald Mießner CEO Sales BILLA

"The Corona crisis is a difficult time for domestic retailers and discounts and offers from large online retailers are causing additional sales losses. For this reason, we want to take responsibility in the spirit of partnership and support small local businesses. I am very pleased that we can offer local toy retailers a stage for the sale of their products as we did last year and, conversely, enable our customers to shop for presents before Christmas," says Harald Mießner, BILLA CEO for Sales. "Unfortunately, even the Click & Collect offer will not be able to save even a fraction of the Christmas business of local toy retailers during the lockdown. That's why it's especially important for us to send a visible sign of solidarity and also make selected store kitchens available as additional sales areas."
