BILLA apprentices organised a summer party for children's hospice support

From 20 to 24 June, BILLA brought apprentices before the curtain as part of "Lehrlinge führen Märkte" to put the management of seven BILLA stores throughout Austria in the hands of the next generation. In Vienna, 51 apprentices were at the starting line to manage the BILLA store at Hauptstraße 30 in Vienna's 14th district.

In the course of the successful project, the apprentices organised charity events for the first time this year to collect donations for charitable organisations in the region. So on Friday they started setting up tables, benches and umbrellas in the morning to create a cosy atmosphere for the upcoming summer party. In addition to grilled sausages, customers were offered freshly tapped beer, coffee and cake in return for a donation. The event raised a total of 1,400 euros, which will now be donated to "e-motion Lichtblickhof". Lichtblickhof, with locations in Vienna and Lower Austria, offers children's hospice support for families whose children are affected by incurable and life-shortening illnesses. The therapists work with specially trained therapy horses to support the children in their remaining tasks and to give them moments of joy.

"I am very proud of our apprentices and the entire BILLA team at Hauptstraße 30. With their summer party for the children's hospice at Lichtblickhof, they have impressively demonstrated their social commitment."

"I am very proud of our apprentices and the entire BILLA team at Hauptstraße 30. With their summer party for the children's hospice at Lichtblickhof, they have impressively demonstrated their social commitment. Together with our customers, they were able to raise a donation of 1,400 euros and we are proud to be able to hand this over to the 'e-motion Lichtblickhof' association," says Hamed Mohseni, BILLA sales director.

Roswitha Zink, Managing Director of e-motion Lichtblickhof, explains: "I was very pleased that the apprentices were so keen to organise the summer party. Thanks to their charity action, they took the mission of our association even further and raised awareness for our important work. Our team cares for seriously ill children who are in need of special care. The therapy sessions with our horses give the children strength and joy during difficult phases in their lives."
