At the same time, the meat logistics for 430 markets in Carinthia, Styria, southern Burgenland and Salzburg will be concentrated in St. Veit/Glan. The Traiskirchen meat plant will continue to supply Eastern Austria with the conventional pork and beef range and will continue to handle the national production of organic beef. In addition, the production of organic lamb is taken over from St. Veit. The realignment of REWE meat production will be completed by the end of June 2023.

Offers for all employees

A total of 89 employees are currently working at the St. Veit location, whereby all 34 employees working in meat production have concrete job offers for other areas within REWE Group, such as BILLA, BILLA PLUS, PENNY or in logistics. In addition, a social plan will be drawn up for all employees together with the works council. Employees in meat logistics in St. Veit are not affected by this.

State-of-the-art technology

The restructuring will further improve product quality and product safety. With highly efficient technologies and under the most modern standards, only Austrian raw materials are processed into meat products in Eberstalzell. The fresh meat is cut, sliced and packaged on site. In this way, the branches of BILLA, BILLA PLUS and ADEG are supplied with around 400 fresh meat products. Furthermore, the raw materials for up to 200 sausage and convenience items are delivered to our sausage plant and convenience store. The fully automated meat plant in Eberstalzell was opened in 2019 on an area of 35,500 square metres.

In addition to Eberstalzell, sausage products are processed in Radstadt (Salzburg) and meat and convenience products in Traiskirchen (Lower Austria).
