The aim is to fulfill local customer wishes with customized offers. To this end, BILLA is now expanding its cooperation with local companies in Viennese BILLA and BILLA PLUS stores and is pleased to allow its customers to enjoy the City of Vienna's organic brand "Wiener Gusto" with immediate effect. Since 2020, there has already been a close cooperation with the City of Vienna as an organic producer and Ja! Natürlich: For example, we purchase organic early apples, organic whole rye flour from Stadtgut Lobau, and organic tofu made from Viennese soy.

Erich Szuchy, BILLA Director of Purchasing, is pleased about the close cooperation with the City of Vienna: "Vienna has great producers who put a lot of passion and creativity into the production of their delicious products. Our customers appreciate these foods very much. That is why we at BILLA see it as our mission to offer them a growing and colorful range of local products. With the introduction of the city's own brand 'Wiener Gusto', we are continuing our excellent cooperation with the City of Vienna and, following the successful cooperation with Ja! Natürlich and Viennese organic farmers, in particular the Lobau Organic Center, we are now also stocking other regional products in Viennese BILLA stores."

"With Wiener Gusto, Vienna is the only major city with organic products from its own production. The products are 100 percent organic and from regional production and, thanks to short transport routes, make an important contribution to climate protection and security of supply in our city," says a delighted Climate City Councillor Jürgen Czernohorszky. "We successfully launched the project a year ago - since then, the product range and also the shopping options have been continuously expanded."

Nine "Wiener Gusto" products now available at BILLA PLUS and BILLA Corso

To begin with, customers can expect to find nine products in around 50 BILLA PLUS and BILLA Corso stores in Vienna and Lower Austria. These are: Organic Wheat Flour Smooth and Universal, Organic Linseed Oil, Organic Mountain Lentil, Organic Bacon and Floury Peas, and the sausage variations Wild Polish, Wild Chili Sausage, and Wild Cheese Sausage.

"The Closer, the more Gusto"

The city-owned organic brand Wiener Gusto of the City of Vienna's Forestry and Agriculture Department offers sustainable organic products from the immediate region. With its approximately 2,000 hectares of forestry and agricultural land in Vienna and in neighboring Lower Austria to the south, in Vösendorf, Rannersdorf, Laxenburg, Oberwaltersdorf and Moosbrunn, the City of Vienna is one of the largest organic operations in Austria. All products from these areas have been offered under the "Wiener Gusto" brand since 2022. The special feature: The fields are farmed 100 percent organically, with crops grown in a well-thought-out crop rotation and fertilized exclusively with compost. In addition to different types of grain, oil and protein crops as well as potatoes are also cultivated. Crops such as mountain lentil, which originally comes from other continents and prefers a warm, dry climate, are also cultivated. But with the cultivation in the south of Vienna, the optimal conditions have been created to also bring the Viennese:inside to the taste of the legume. The game meat comes from the naturally managed forests of the city of Vienna, where the game enjoys a life in the wild.
