Ja! Natürlich brings the Papau to Austria for the first time: Exoticism meets regionality!

Ja! Natürlich enriches the domestic market with a true flavor explosion: the organic papau fruit. Known for its exotic flavor profile reminiscent of a unique blend of pineapple, banana and mango with a hint of vanilla, this North American fruit is lovingly harvested by hand by the Köck family in the Styrian region "Genussparadies Apfelstraße".

"The introduction of the Ja! Natürlich organic papau fruit is another step for us to inspire our customers with exceptional and high-quality regional organic products," says Klaudia Atzmüller, Managing Director of Ja! Natürlich. "The Papau stands for everything we at Ja! Natürlich value: Innovation, taste and sustainability." The papau is one of the few exotic plants that is winter-hardy in Austria and therefore also interesting for domestic hobby gardeners:inside. From May the purple bell flowers of the Papau fruit bloom, from September to October the fruits ripen, which have a maximum harvest time of four weeks.

The juicy yellow flesh of the papau offers a consistency reminiscent of avocado. It becomes an ideal snack or exotic ingredient for desserts or can be perfectly preserved as jam. By cutting the fruit lengthwise and removing the large, bean-like seeds, the flesh can be easily extracted.

The Ja! Natur Papau fruit will be available in selected Billa Plus and Billa Corso stores from the beginning of October for 3.99 euros (250g).
