Kerstin Haberhauer, waldsetzen.jetzt, Dagmar Habeler, Waldquelle Mineralwasser, and Gerald Flechl, PENNY Austria, opened the planting campaign. More than 1,000 additional trees will follow in the fall. The collection campaign at PENNY will continue until mid-October.
Since March, PENNY customers and diligent schoolchildren all over Austria have been collecting their beverage caps for the PENNY and Waldquelle Stöpselwald. Thanks to them, forest areas damaged by climate change will be reforested.
"We are pleased that we have planted the first trees of the joint Stöpselwald forest in Kobersdorf with Waldquelle mineral water. In this way, we are contributing as a team to reforesting the forest areas damaged by climate change," says Gerald Flechl, PENNY Purchasing Beverages.
"The Waldquelle Hiking Day is a highlight, but I was particularly pleased this year with the first tree planting campaign with our strong partner PENNY. It is great to see how young and old, young and old enjoy planting trees and thus reforesting nature for all of us," says Thomas Schmidt, Sales Manager Waldquelle Mineral Water.
The collection will continue until Saturday, September 30. All stoppers can be dropped off in the special collection boxes provided at PENNY stores throughout Austria. From the PENNY store, the route leads directly to the recycling plant. The raw material is processed and prepared for reuse. With the net proceeds from the recycled stoppers, a total of four new stopper forests will be planted. The other planting stations are Vienna, Lower Austria and Carinthia.
