Chickens, sheep and kangaroos: BILLA and Provincial Councilor Josef Schwaiger visit producers in Pongau and Lungau

In the province of Salzburg, BILLA cooperates with over 300 local suppliers, many of whom are located in the immediate vicinity of the stores. This enables a particularly close and neighborly cooperation and promotes regional value creation. The diverse assortment in Salzburg's BILLA and BILLA PLUS stores provides more than 2,280 regional products. The Wagrain chicken village, the "Bio aus dem Tal" GmbH in Kleinarl and the Zehnerhof in Mariapfarr are three of these regional farms that cooperate with BILLA in Salzburger Land and supply the markets with the best local products.

Provincial councilor Josef Schwaiger, chairman of the Salzburg agricultural marketing, was personally present at the BILLA locality tour.

As part of the BILLA location tour, BILLA market managers visited the three farms together with Provincial Councilor Josef Schwaiger and took a look behind the scenes of production. In addition to 2,000 chickens and sheep, the chicken village in Wagrain at Steinbachhof is also home to several wallaby kangaroos. The wallabies are originally found in the coastal regions of Australia - but also in Salzburg Pongau at Steinbachhof with the Weichselbraun family. At "Bio aus dem Tal"-GmbH in Kleinarl, three young farmers from Kleinarl have joined forces to produce organic food of the highest quality under the motto "The best from the valley for the valley". At the Zehnerhof in Mariapfarr in Salzburg's Lungau region, the Schitter family produces, processes and sells high-quality organic products. The popular aronia berries, also called chokeberries, are processed into juice, tea and aronia powder. Hannes Gruber, BILLA sales director in Salzburg, is enthusiastic: "The direct exchange with our local partners is very important to us. The supply of the best local products cannot be taken for granted and is also appreciated more than ever by our customers."

The idea of the BILLA locality tours was developed in cooperation with Salzburg Agricultural Marketing. "The regional producers and farms in Salzburg do a great job and ensure the supply of the best local products. With BILLA, they have an important and fair partner at their side who is committed to long-term cooperation and fosters personal exchange. This is exactly where the BILLA Locality Tour comes in: Regional producers give an insight into their businesses, tell the stories behind the products and offer tastings - this creates awareness for the high-quality local foods," says Provincial Councilor Josef Schwaiger, Chairman of Salzburg Agricultural Marketing, who was personally present at the BILLA Locality Tour.
