The exterior of the store building features a modern BILLA design with the retailer's name added in large letters. Inside, it impresses with Patrick Bastirsch's personal signature in all areas on around 1,000 m2 of sales space. This is particularly evident in the careful selection of products, which includes successful classics, popular own brands and products from small businesses in the region. The product variety includes local products such as Carnuntum meadow eggs from the Speckl organic farm in Rohrau, meat and sausage products from the Graf butcher's shop in Leithaprodersdorf and goat's cheese specialties from Mandl's Ziegenhof in Lichtenegg. Another special feature that Patrick Bastirsch offers his customers in the store is an unpackaged filling station for organic food.

BILLA Patrick Bastirsch takes care of his customers and the region with a 24-strong team

Patrick Bastirsch's team consists of 24 employees, including two apprentices - all of whom have previously worked at this BILLA store and are therefore familiar with the local needs of customers from Himberg and beyond. The retailer is continuing its cooperation with the Red Cross to distribute food and is also maintaining the sustainability measures it has already implemented - such as its own photovoltaic system on the roof, which provides energy for the store, and its cooperation with Too Good To Go. The entire BILLA store is barrier-free and offers 67 parking spaces for customers.

Patrick Bastirsch, BILLA shop assistant in Himberg: "I started working part-time in a BILLA store while I was still at school. I was most recently a sales manager, so I'm now returning to my roots, i.e. direct interaction with customers in the store. Ever since BILLA presented the merchant model, it was clear to me that I wanted to go down this path to self-employment. As a merchant, I can be there for my customers and my team in a more personalized way, I am my own boss and at the same time benefit from the strong, secure partnership with BILLA. The individuality of my market is reflected, for example, in the many collaborations with local producers. It is particularly important to me to offer a diverse range that is characterized by local products and thus support regional businesses. If our customers have any questions or suggestions, they can always come to my team and me at the store at Wienerstrasse 16."

Brian Beck, BILLA Board Member for Wholesale and Merchants, emphasizes: "We are delighted that the merchant model has been so well received after one year of existence. In particular, the pronounced security factor that the BILLA Kaufleute model brings is crucial. In times like these, strong partnerships and security are essential to successfully manage a market. We are delighted to start this partnership with Patrick Bastirsch today and to accompany him on his path to independence."

BILLA Kaufleute model offers comprehensive support and a reliable safety net

The BILLA Kaufleute model is a unique concept in Austria, which stands out above all due to its strong backing and support, and significantly expands the BILLA portfolio alongside classic BILLA and BILLA PLUS stores. The opening in Himberg further establishes this attractive and low-threshold opportunity for prospective merchants, ensures the long-term safeguarding of the local infrastructure and spreads the commercial tradition even further in Austria.

BILLA is a strong partner for merchants, providing advice and support. They benefit from the expertise and know-how of the BILLA family - for example, in the coordination of important decisions such as investments. BILLA also provides the joint companies with a balanced and attractively priced basic product range, which offers additional support and security. BILLA also supports the retailers in store design, purchasing, with strong own brands and a comprehensive network of suppliers, with questions about energy efficiency and provides technical support. In addition, BILLA retailers receive a service package with all the tools they need to run the store successfully.
