Foresight at BILLA apprenticeship training: Young people visit the Burgenland state parliament

As part of the BILLA Transformer Tour, BILLA embarked on a nationwide search for apprentices last year and toured the whole of Austria with the Transformer Truck. In November, the BILLA Transformer Truck stopped in Eisenstadt, where Robert Hergovich, President of Burgenland's state parliament, visited the truck and invited interested BILLA apprentices to the state parliament. This invitation was accepted on Friday morning by 23 BILLA apprentices and their accompanying persons - they were welcomed by Robert Hergovich at the state parliament in Eisenstadt.

After a tour of the building, they discussed the concerns and needs of the apprentices over a shared snack. Robert Hergovich was delighted with the visit and the interest shown by the apprentices: "I am delighted that the BILLA apprentices accepted my invitation and would like to continue this direct and personal exchange with young people in Burgenland. I would also like to thank the people in charge at BILLA, who are promoting apprentices and young talent beyond technical training."

REWE Group is currently training around 2,300 apprentices in Austria. In 2024, BILLA alone plans to take on 1,000 more apprentices, 43 of them in Burgenland. "As one of the most important training companies in Austria, it is very important to us to train our apprentices with a comprehensive vision. In addition to the technical skills they acquire during their apprenticeship at BILLA, we also want to encourage young people to participate in social and democratic discourse," said Eric Scharnitz, BILLA Sales Director in Burgenland, who was there in person. At the end of the event, the participating confectionery apprentices presented the President of the Provincial Parliament with a homemade cake from the confectionery of the BILLA PLUS store in Eisenstadt.
