BILLA supported the Red Cross at the Vienna City Marathon with food donations

The Vienna City Marathon, one of the biggest sporting events of the year, took place on April 21. Not only were around 42,000 runners taking part, but also almost 300 Red Cross employees. In order to support the emergency services and pay tribute to the commitment of the Red Cross, BILLA provided food for the helpers and handed over a large donation of food to Red Cross officials.

"The Red Cross makes an indispensable contribution to our society every day. Major sporting events such as the Vienna City Marathon would not be possible without the dedication of its committed employees. With our food donation, we want to ensure that the helpers are well supplied during the event and thus express our appreciation for their tireless work," says BILLA Sales Manager Katalin Koller-Varga.

The donation was handed over on the day before the Vienna City Marathon at Vienna's Rochusmarkt, and those responsible at the Red Cross were delighted: "BILLA's generous support is a valuable recognition and motivation for our teams, for which I would like to express my sincere thanks. The donated food provides the energy we need for our tasks at major events such as the Vienna City Marathon. Our employees and the many volunteers do a great job and I am very pleased that their efforts are also seen and appreciated by companies like BILLA," says Johannes Friedl, Head of Ambulance, Medical and Rescue Services at the Vienna Red Cross.
