Diverse REWE Group: Queer employee network invited to exchange ideas

Under the motto “Courage!? for visibility”, the queer network for REWE Group employees “di.to. - di.fferent to.gether” invited to an evening full of diversity, exchange and experiences at the BILLA Corso wine bar in Vienna's Ringstraßengalerien yesterday. After introductory words by BILLA board member Michael Paterno, there was an exciting panel discussion with diversity & equality expert Mariella Müller, the founder of the association Heublumen - LGBTQIA+ Initiative Florian Niederseer and the di.to speakers Barbara Tutschka and Bogdan Bradila as well as Markus Kuntke, Head of Trend and Innovation at REWE International AG.

Michael Paterno, BILLA Board Member: “The people of the REWE Group come from more than 100 nations and have different social or cultural backgrounds, various sexual orientations, genders, or disabilities. This diversity brings together multifaceted perspectives and experiences, making us an open employer. Together, we aim to create a work atmosphere where everyone feels encouraged to contribute and thrive. For us as a company, this means addressing potential prejudices and fostering a respectful coexistence while continually ensuring it.”

“As the REWE Group, we participate in a variety of events to promote mutual exchange. Network events like ‘di.fferent to.gether: Courage!? for Visibility’ serve as valuable platforms to strengthen solidarity and understanding through shared dialogue. We thank everyone involved for the wonderful evening,” adds Markus Kuntke.

The REWE Group provides visibility for the LGBTIQ+ community through annual sponsorships, such as collaborations with the Rainbow Ball, the Tuntenball, Vienna PRIDE, Mittersill PRIDE, and PRIDE Biz. The company's commitment is also reflected in product offerings during PRIDE Month, such as the rainbow roulade from the BILLA pastry shop or the BI Care rainbow soap at BIPA. Additionally, this year, the REWE Group participated in Austria's first queer career fair, “Rainbow Day,” where it received top ratings as an employer.
