Press Release 10th December 2024

30 years of BILLA Corso - 30 years of fine shopping and enjoyment

BILLA Corso is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Since the opening of the first BILLA Corso store in Vienna, the concept has not only established itself as a popular destination for indulgence and fine shopping, but has also been continuously developed. In addition, new BILLA Corso locations have been added over the years: six in Vienna and one each at Vienna-Schwechat Airport, Jakominiplatz in Graz and Griesgasse in Salzburg. Next year, Linz can look forward to the first BILLA Corso store in Upper Austria. From March, it will offer the people of Linz a completely new shopping experience on around 1,500 square metres.

Marcel Haraszti, Member of the Management Board of REWE International AG: ‘For three decades, BILLA Corso has embodied much more than just traditional shopping - it is a place where extraordinary moments of pleasure, exclusive specialities and culinary inspiration come together. In our now ten BILLA Corso stores, we endeavour to surprise our customers with a carefully curated selection of delicacies from all over the world that are unique in their variety and quality. We also offer wines from local and international winegrowers and plenty of fresh convenience foods and restaurant-quality dishes. I am delighted that we will also be able to bring this concept to Upper Austria for the first time in just a few months.’

One year of enjoyment opposite the Vienna State Opera and at the Schottentor

The BILLA Corso stores on Opernring and Schottentor, which opened a year ago, have quickly become top culinary destinations in the heart of Vienna. The location on Opernring, directly opposite the Vienna State Opera, offers an exclusive range of regional and international specialities, a ‘hot bar’ with freshly prepared dishes, an extensive selection of wines and spirits and an in-house confectionery on 720 m². The location is particularly popular in the run-up to Christmas: the extended range includes confectionery and Christmas treats from all over the world and exquisitely filled gift baskets. These are customised by the employees. The historic ambience of the Heinrichhof makes a visit to the market a unique experience.

After one year, the BILLA Corso in Palais Ephrussi on Schottengasse has established itself as a hotspot for working people and students. The 265 m² sales area offers customers a wide selection of ‘to go’ specialities such as burgers, poke bowls and wok dishes - many of which are plant-based at the customer's request. The elaborately restored Hansen stucco ceiling makes shopping here an excursion into Viennese history.

Christmas anticipation with the BILLA Genusswelt

The BILLA Corso stores must not miss out on the BILLA Genusswelt own brand, which offers an illustrious selection not only for festive occasions and special occasions, but all year round. The 150 or so items include local specialities and international delicacies at affordable prices. New additions this year include ‘sous vide’ venison goulash, chestnut cream soup, pumpkin girasoli, raspberry chocolate, speculoos tiramisu and the “Italian lemon” tea variety. All BILLA Genusswelt products are also available in all BILLA PLUS and selected BILLA stores throughout Austria.
