Grand opening: Upper Austria gets its first BILLA Corso in Linz!

After an intensive eight-month remodelling phase, the traditional BILLA store at Landstraße 44 in Linz is now the first BILLA Corso in Upper Austria. The location, which has been the oldest BILLA store in the province since its opening on 24 November 1963, has been modernised and extended by around 1,000 m² during extensive renovation work. The merger with a neighbouring area has created an impressive sales area of over 1,500 m². Customers can now discover the multifaceted world of BILLA Corso here - from exquisite delicacies from all over the world to a wide selection of everyday products.

Harald Mießner (BILLA Sales Director), Thomas Steingruber (BILLA Sales Director), Peter Binder (3rd Provincial Parliament President), Ernesta Dusinovic (BILLA Corso Store Manager), Markus Achleitner (Provincial Economic Councillor), Werner Eder (Lieutenant Colonel), Michael Paterno (BILLA Consumer Director) and Günther Humer (Major General) are delighted with the opening of the first BILLA Corso in Linz.

The fresh baked goods, delicatessen, meat, fish and cheese departments, all of which are offered with personalised service, are particularly noteworthy. A true paradise for food lovers. Visually, pistachio green accents, art deco elements and Viennese wickerwork create a stylish atmosphere.

Harald Mießner, BILLA CEO: ‘More than 60 years ago, we laid the foundation stone for Upper Austria as an important business location for us with the opening of the first BILLA store in Linzer Landstraße. Today, we have 157 BILLA locations in Upper Austria, 31 of which are in Linz. We are delighted to expand our range with the first BILLA Corso and to offer the people of Linz the opportunity to immerse themselves in the multifaceted world of enjoyment of our BILLA Corso brand and discover an exquisitely selected range.’

‘The extensive refurbishment has enabled us to significantly enlarge the store. By removing the wall to the former neighbouring shop, we have created a lot of space so that our customers can now enjoy a special BILLA Corso shopping experience in one of the most popular shopping streets in Linz,’ says Thomas Steingruber, BILLA Sales Director.

‘For the second time, BILLA is making history on Landstraße in Linz: Where the first BILLA store in Upper Austria opened more than 60 years ago, the first BILLA Corso in Upper Austria is now moving in with a huge variety of products. With more than 150 shops throughout the province, BILLA is a reliable local supplier for the people of Upper Austria and creates jobs in all regions - in its own stores, with local producers and also in logistics,’ emphasises Markus Achleitner, Provincial Councillor for Economic Affairs.

‘The opening of the new BILLA Corso store in Linzer Landstraße is significant in several respects. It will enhance the shopping offer in our city. At the same time, numerous additional jobs will be created. I am also very pleased that products from regional producers are available in the store, which will also strengthen our local economy in the long term,’ says Dietmar Prammer, Mayor of Linz.

Immerse yourself in a special variety of flavours with BILLA Corso

In the new BILLA Corso store, customers can expect an unusual catering concept: in addition to burgers, bowls and a large convenience range, a large selection of dishes is offered from the hot counter. Fresh sushi is prepared for customers on site every day. The BILLA to go area attracts customers with fresh snacks, smoothies, a juice bar, coffee to go and a varied salad bar. The focus is on the new service counter, where over 80 specialities of fish, meat and cheese are available with individual service - including highlights such as beef tartare and scallops. Since 2023, BILLA has only offered fresh meat in 100% animal welfare quality.

For lovers of bread and pastries, there is a variety of 100 different types, including regional specialities from suppliers such as Reichl Brot. There are up to 250 different fresh products to choose from in the fruit and vegetable section. The market also favours regional and local products: The regional shelf includes 58 products from 45 suppliers, such as Mairinger Most & Mehr from Wartberg ob der Aist, apple juice from Voglsam - Hasenfit Bio Fruchtsäfte from Hofkirchen im Traunkreis or Pflügelmeier Pepi's courgette salad from Fraham.

Sweet dreams come true at the Marktkonditorei. Customers in Linz can choose from a large selection of handmade pastries - including 20 exclusive recipes and over 600 other delicious variations for special and seasonal occasions.

Fine range of wines and spirits and special services

Whatever the occasion, the wine and spirits department at the new BILLA Corso is sure to have something for everyone. There are around 650 different wines and 320 spirits to choose from. In addition to international and national classics, the focus is also on fine wines from regional winegrowers. Specialities from the Christian winery in Mehrnbach and the Schiefermair winery in Kematen are available.

In addition to the wide range of products, special services round off the offer at the BILLA Corso store. These include customised gift baskets, which customers can order in advance. The party service, which prepares savoury sandwiches, exquisite platters, filled savoury pretzels or sweets, also complements the range and ensures special moments.

New BILLA Corso store creates 43 new jobs in Linz

The existing store team, led by store manager Ernesta Dusinovic, was also expanded with the increase in space. In total, BILLA is creating 43 new jobs for Linz with the remodelling. The new BILLA Corso store now employs 55 people. A long-standing core team characterises the store and is very familiar with the clientele - including Ernesta Dusinovic and Elvisa Brica, who have been part of the BILLA family for almost three decades.

Store manager Ernesta Dusinovic: ‘We are delighted to present our customers with an expanded delicatessen range and an even better shopping experience. Of course, we remain just as well equipped for everyday shopping and will continue to be THE local supplier in Linz!’

Grand opening with prominent guests

In addition to the BILLA family, numerous guests from politics, business, administration and Linz society did not miss yesterday's celebrations for the new BILLA Corso location. Among them were Markus Achleitner, Linz Mayor Dietmar Prammer and Canon Kan. Cons. R. Dr Johann Hintermaier, who performed the ceremonial blessing of the market.
