BILLA employees redesign SOS youth accommodation on Waldhofweg in Klagenfurt

As part of this year's engagement days organised by the association ‘Verantwortung zeigen!’ (Show Responsibility!), 25 BILLA employees from Carinthia and East Tyrol rolled up their sleeves in June under the motto ‘Flower Power’. The aim was to comprehensively beautify the SOS Youth Residence on Waldhofweg in Klagenfurt. Everyone pitched in to help around the house and garden: the garden was completely redesigned, hedges and bushes were trimmed, and beanbags were hung from trees as swings. In addition, a paved area was created for a large fire pit. Inside the house, the fronts of the entire kitchen were removed, sanded and repainted or oiled. Sausage rolls, cake, coffee and juices provided refreshments throughout the day – before the day ended with a barbecue in the evening.

Michael Pietrowski, educational director of SOS Youth Housing in Klagenfurt, is also enthusiastic: ‘The joint project with BILLA was not only a highlight for our young people in terms of craftsmanship, but also a strong sign of mutual appreciation.’
