Deposit bag instead of handbag at ADEG

The disposable deposit system has been in place in Austria for six months. At ADEG, this new regulation is seen as a great opportunity to further promote sustainability and combine it with social commitment. To make it easier for customers to collect and return deposit bottles, a free deposit collection bag is now offered with every purchase of deposit containers – a practical aid that makes shopping even easier and more sustainable.

With its deposit collection bag, ADEG offers a practical solution that makes it easier for customers to recycle disposable deposit bottles and cans. In doing so, independent ADEG retailers aim to promote sustainability in everyday life while strengthening local engagement: many retailers also offer the opportunity to support regional projects or associations by donating deposit receipts. This makes collecting deposit bottles an easy way to protect the environment and support the region.

Small helpers, big contribution

With a total of 40,000 bags distributed throughout Austria when customers purchase disposable containers in stores, ADEG is providing customers with a practical tool for easily collecting and conveniently returning their empty deposit containers. ‘The deposit collection bag is a small but big help in everyday life,’ says Walter Schmutterer, ADEG retailer in Reisenberg (Baden district). ‘It not only makes collecting deposit bottles easier, but also turns it into an everyday activity that reminds us that each of us can make a big contribution to environmental protection with small steps.’ The deposit collection bag thus becomes more than just a practical tool – it becomes a symbol of conscious consumption and sustainability, giving customers the good feeling of actively contributing to the conservation of our resources.

Donate deposit receipts to a good cause

But the impact of the deposit collection bag goes far beyond collecting and returning deposit bottles and cans. ADEG enables customers to donate their deposit receipts to regional organisations and initiatives. Participating ADEG stores can decide for themselves where the donations go, whether it's to the local volunteer fire brigade or a sustainability project that is particularly close to the community's heart. This individuality ensures that the money goes where it is most urgently needed in the communities and that customers have a direct connection to the projects they support. ‘By offering the option to donate deposit receipts, we are creating a simple and direct way to strengthen social cohesion in communities. Every deposit receipt thus becomes a valuable contribution to the immediate environment,’ explains Florian Klein, Managing Director of REWE Großhandel GmbH.
