BILLA sends a strong signal for the promotion of girls' and women's football in Upper Austria

On Sunday, 25 January 2026, the sports centre and district sports facility at Weidfeldstraße 151 in Traun (Linz-Land district) became the meeting place for girls' and women's football. The ‘BILLA Bandenzauber’ tournament, organised by FNZ Linz Süd Ebelsberg/Dionysen, focused on dynamism, team spirit and sporting quality.

With the ‘BILLA Bandenzauber’ tournament, BILLA continued its long-standing commitment to girls' and women's football while also strengthening Traun as a regional sports location. Indoor tournaments of this kind not only offer valuable playing practice, but also create visibility and recognition for women's football in different age groups. ‘It is important to us to continuously support girls and women in football and to offer them professional conditions. Sport connects, inspires and strengthens body and mind. As a food retailer, we see it as our responsibility to be committed not only to local supply but also to the community. An important cornerstone of this is the promotion of young female athletes,’ explained Thomas Steingruber, BILLA Sales Director in Upper Austria.
