PENNY and the Austrian Red Cross are working together to pack Easter baskets for families in need

For 15 years, PENNY Austria and the Austrian Red Cross have been working side by side to support families facing difficult circumstances. What began in 2011 as a 1-euro donation receipt campaign has now become a reliable partnership that provides help where support is urgently needed. At the heart of this is the PENNY Family Aid Fund, which has supported more than 6,000 families with over 15,000 children in need in Austria since its inception. Total donations received amount to more than 2.5 million euros.

The practical impact of this partnership is also evident at Easter: PENNY Austria and the Austrian Red Cross are joining forces to pack 100 Easter hampers for families and children in need. The hampers will be distributed via Team Österreich Tafel. They will be filled with selected PENNY products, designed to help families enjoy a delightful and lovingly prepared Easter celebration. PENNY Managing Director Johannes Greller and Austrian Red Cross Secretary General Michael Opriesnig will also be on site to help pack the Easter hampers.

“Moments like these are the best part of our job,” says Johannes Greller. “When you don’t just talk about responsibility, but roll up your sleeves and see for yourself that small gestures can make a big difference to families.”

Red Cross Secretary General Michael Opriesnig: “In Austria, 1.5 million people are at risk of poverty and social exclusion, around 380,000 of whom are children and young people. 80,000 children live in absolute poverty. Even a small Easter basket is not something they can take for granted. I am therefore all the more delighted that, through this campaign, we can bring them a little joy over the holidays. We are grateful for the vital support from PENNY and would like to thank all customers who, through their donations, are sending an important message of solidarity to families in need.”

With this Easter campaign, PENNY and the Austrian Red Cross are sending a clear message about how active partnership and everyday products can make a real difference in special moments.
