BILLA and foodora are expanding their partnership and launching their first joint delivery store in Vienna, offering delivery until 10 p.m.

BILLA and foodora are expanding their grocery delivery model to cover a large part of Vienna: BILLA and foodora are opening Austria’s first joint delivery store. This marks the next milestone in their partnership, which has been in place since 2024, where both companies combine their respective strengths. As before, customers will receive fast and hassle-free grocery delivery Monday through Saturday at supermarket prices and within 60 minutes. For most Viennese residents, this next step now even means delivery until 10 p.m.

  • BILLA and foodora are expanding their food delivery model to cover a large part of Vienna: BILLA and foodora are opening Austria’s first joint delivery store.

  • This marks the next milestone in the partnership, which has been in place since 2024, in which both companies combine their respective strengths.

  • As before, customers can enjoy fast and hassle-free grocery delivery Monday through Saturday at supermarket prices, with orders arriving within 60 minutes.

  • For most Viennese residents, this next step now even means delivery until 10 p.m.

With this new model, BILLA and foodora are going beyond traditional delivery services. While BILLA provides the product range and infrastructure, foodora handles the order fulfillment and delivery. This form of operational integration is considered a first for the Austrian market and, particularly through deliveries available until 10 p.m. at supermarket prices, creates an offering that has not been available in this form before.

Igor Milojkovic, Head of Domestic Sales at BILLA: “At BILLA, our customers’ needs are always at the heart of everything we do. Together with foodora, we are expanding our existing service offerings and bringing the quality customers have come to expect from BILLA—now available to most Viennese residents right to their doorsteps until 10 p.m. With a selection of over 6,000 items—at the same prices as at the BILLA store around the corner—we’re creating an offering that caters to everyone: from quick shopping for single-person households to a full week’s worth of groceries for families.”

Dragan Milovanovic, General Manager of Quick Commerce at foodora Austria: “What we launched in March 2026 together with BILLA is a first for Austria—and at the same time a model for what retail partnerships could look like in the future. BILLA provides the locations, product range, and trust; we handle order fulfillment and the technology for doorstep delivery. The focus is on customers, who can now access the BILLA product range at supermarket prices in Vienna. Orders are delivered within 60 minutes, Monday through Saturday until 10 p.m. This creates real choice, greater convenience, and demonstrates how the foodora app is becoming an integral part of everyday life.”

Weekly grocery shopping via app with extended delivery hours

The product range includes more than 6,000 items, covering all the essentials of grocery shopping—from fresh baked goods to beverages and household items. Deliveries are made within about 60 minutes and are available Monday through Saturday until 10 p.m.—a time window that is unique in the Austrian grocery retail sector.

Initial usage data from the test phase reveal clear patterns in ordering behavior: Saturday is the busiest day for orders, while during the week, demand is concentrated primarily in the evening hours—that is, at times when many brick-and-mortar stores are already closed. The model thus creates a new market position and serves as the basis for a potential expansion to additional locations.

Initial insights into the order data show that bananas and bread are clearly in the lead

At the top of the list of most-ordered products are: Ja! Natürlich bananas, followed by Ja! Natürlich Kaiser rolls and Clever button rolls, which are baked fresh daily in-store. Beverages and everyday essentials like paper towels are also among the most frequently requested items. Orders placed after 7 p.m. show a clear preference for beverages and a party atmosphere: beer and soft drinks dominate the ranking, while staple items such as the Ja! Natürlich Kaiser rolls remain in demand. Rounding out the picture are typical everyday items like paper towels, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables such as cucumbers and avocados.

Model with growth potential

With their joint delivery store, BILLA and foodora are establishing themselves in Vienna and on the Austrian market with an innovative approach. The model is intended to serve as the foundation for additional locations and will eventually be rolled out to other regions as well. Initial usage data points to further growth potential: attractive prices and significantly expanded operating hours could further increase order volume.
