Together with MavieMe, part of the holistic healthcare provider Mavie, BIPA is responding with an offer that is unique in Austria: the drugstore retailer is the first retail partner to include at-home health tests in its product range. From 16 April, three new tests will be available in all BIPA branches and via the online shop. The tests have been deliberately designed as a low-threshold preventive service: customers can take a blood sample in the comfort of their own home, send it by post to an accredited partner laboratory and usually receive the results within seven working days in the form of an easy-to-understand digital health report. The results can then be discussed with doctors during an optional online consultation. The service provides an initial insight into selected health metrics, promotes personal responsibility and can thus serve as a complement to one’s own preventive healthcare.
Markus Geyer, Managing Director of BIPA: “We are proud to be the first retailer in Austria to make this service available to our customers. Preventive healthcare must not be hindered by cost or lack of access – and that is precisely what we are addressing with the MavieMe tests. What pleases me particularly is that, with the included online medical consultation service, our customers are not left to deal with their results on their own. This is unique in the Austrian retail sector and offers real added value.”
Fanni Schmidt, Managing Director of MavieMe: “The latest data from the Gallup study clearly shows that there is a need for accessible preventive health services. At the same time, the wealth of positive feedback from our customers confirms just how valuable health tests can be as an initial insight into one’s own health. We are therefore all the more delighted to be making MavieMe home tests even easier to use and accessible to more people, together with our strong partner BIPA.”
Three tests, one goal: an initial insight into and guide to your own health
The new range comprises three at-home health tests covering different health areas, which are available from BIPA for €149 per test, together with an online medical consultation:
Women’s Health Check: To analyse selected hormone, iron and vitamin levels, providing an initial insight into specific blood values that are particularly relevant for women
Longevity Check: To analyse selected markers of lipid metabolism, hormonal balance and inflammatory status, which are frequently assessed in relation to the cardiovascular system, metabolism and inflammatory processes
Nutrient Check: To analyse selected micronutrients, such as vitamins B12 and D, magnesium and ferritin, which provides information about the body’s iron stores
Fanni Schmidt, Managing Director of MavieMe: “We are delighted to be working with BIPA to create an accessible service that provides initial insights into three key areas of health. The demand is particularly evident when it comes to women’s health: according to the latest Gallup study, two-thirds of women in Austria see home tests as a valuable tool for gaining initial guidance.”
A particular advantage of the new MavieMe tests at BIPA: anyone wishing to discuss their results with a doctor, in addition to the comprehensive results report containing reference values, can optionally book an online consultation. This is carried out exclusively by independent doctors registered to practise in Austria. This service is included in the test price. During the personal consultation, values can be discussed, individual questions clarified and, if necessary, further medical investigation recommended. The tests are also suitable for regular use to track the development of selected values over time.
Eva Paschinger, Commercial Director for Medical Devices & Category at BIPA: “We have been observing significant growth in the medical devices and dietary supplements sector for some time now. Many customers want to actively support their health – but often don’t know where to start or what they actually need. With around 700 products in the medical and OTC sectors, including our own brand BI LIFE, we are already well positioned. The MavieMe self-tests complement this range in a targeted way: they offer scientifically sound guidance so that our customers can then choose the products they really need.”
Important note: The tests provide insights into selected blood values, help to understand the underlying connections and offer an initial guide to your own health. The tests do not provide a diagnosis or treatment recommendations and are not a substitute for a medical examination.
About the survey:
The survey, conducted by the market research institute Gallup Austria, examined the importance of preventive healthcare among the Austrian population as well as expectations regarding health checks. The survey is based on a representative online survey (CAWI) of 1,000 people aged 18 and over, conducted via the institute’s own Gallup online panel in accordance with ISO 20252. The survey took place between 20 March and 1 April 2026. The sample reflects the internet-active population of Austria in terms of gender, age, region and socio-economic characteristics: 49% of respondents are male, 51% female; the age range extends from 18 to over 65 years. The sample is also evenly distributed across regions and by town size.
