SAFE.TOGETHER: BILLA and the police in Groß-Enzersdorf are focusing on direct communication

On April 22, 2026, the “Coffee with Cops” event at the BILLA store at Lobaustraße 4 in Groß-Enzersdorf focused on fostering personal interaction between the police and the public. The event is part of the GEMEINSAM.SICHER initiative of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and is jointly organized by BILLA and the police. The goal is to address questions and concerns directly on-site, facilitate personal conversations, and strengthen the general sense of security through low-threshold interaction between the police and the public.

“Direct interaction is often the best way to address concerns and discuss issues that people face in their daily lives. The fact that ‘Coffee with Cops’ makes this possible in such a relaxed setting is what makes the initiative particularly valuable. At BILLA, we take our responsibility for the safety of our customers and employees very seriously and therefore deliberately focus on initiatives that strengthen personal dialogue and contribute to a greater sense of security,” explains Eric Scharnitz, BILLA Sales Director in Burgenland.

Safety as a shared mission

A recent milestone in the long-standing partnership between BILLA and the police is the Austria-wide distribution of digital information brochures in all BILLA and BILLA PLUS stores. Through various digital platforms in the stores, customers are provided with accessible information on current security risks, common forms of fraud, and seasonal prevention tips. Following a successful pilot project in Carinthia, the initiative was rolled out nationwide and was awarded second place in the KSÖ Safety Award in the category “Award for Active Safety Partnership” in 2025. Federal Police Director Michael Takacs was on site in Groß-Enzersdorf and emphasized the importance of such initiatives: “Direct interaction with the public is an essential component of modern policing. Initiatives like ‘Coffee with Cops’ facilitate encounters on equal footing and create a space to directly address questions and safety-related concerns. Combined with the digital information resources available in BILLA and BILLA PLUS stores, this makes an important contribution to greater awareness and safety in everyday life.”
