“Sport verbandlt”: BILLA launches cooperation with SPORTLAND Lower Austria for children and youth

Sport connects people, promotes team spirit, and especially strengthens young individuals—values that BILLA has supported for many years. Building on this commitment, the company is now launching a cooperation with SPORTLAND Lower Austria. As part of the new “Sport verbandlt” campaign, yellow silicone wristbands will be available from July 2 to September 30, 2026, in all BILLA, BILLA PLUS and BILLA independent retailer stores in Lower Austria for three euros*. All net proceeds from the campaign will support children’s and youth projects in the Lower Austrian sports scene. Each wristband sold can be assigned via a code to a Lower Austrian sports club with a valid registration number until October 14. No registration is required. The three clubs with the most assigned wristbands will each receive a BILLA voucher worth €1,000 at the end of the campaign.

Stefan Weinlich, BILLA Sales Director in Lower Austria: “Few things bring people together as much as sport: it connects individuals, promotes health, and conveys important values such as team spirit, fairness, and solidarity. For us as a food retailer, responsibility does not end with everyday shopping—we also want to make a difference where community is built. Supporting young people is particularly close to our hearts. We are therefore all the more pleased to inspire young people in Lower Austria to engage in physical activity together with our new partner SPORTLAND Lower Austria and to support clubs through our ‘Sport verbandlt’ campaign.”

Udo Landbauer, Provincial Sports Councillor and Deputy Governor: “Sport moves people. Sport inspires emotion. Sport connects. With ‘Sport verbandlt,’ we are setting a visible example for youth sports in Lower Austria and for the people who make it possible every day. In our clubs, children and young people grow not only athletically but also personally. They experience team spirit, fairness, respect, and solidarity—values that extend far beyond sport. Those who support youth sports invest in the health, community, and future of our region. The yellow wristband with the message ‘Sport is the answer’ stands for connection, appreciation, and a clear commitment to the sports community of Lower Austria. Because tomorrow’s successes begin where young talents take their first steps today.”

The kick-off of the new partnership took place today at a press conference at the Admira Wacker Business Club in Maria Enzersdorf. In addition to BILLA Sales Director Stefan Weinlich and Sports Councillor and Deputy Governor Udo Landbauer, participants included double Olympic champion (2006) Michaela Dorfmeister, table tennis world champion (2003) Werner Schlager, and para flagship athlete Andreas Onea.

Working together for youth sports in Lower Austria

The new partnership between BILLA and SPORTLAND Lower Austria covers the current season, with a special focus on promoting children’s and youth projects in sports.

This year, BILLA is supporting two major sports highlights for young athletes: first, the Kids Bike Trophy, a free children’s racing series. Participants demonstrate their skills on varied off-road courses featuring ramps, steep turns, hills, and slalom sections. After a total of 11 events, the series culminates in the grand final and awards ceremony on September 5, 2026, in Ober-Grafendorf.

Secondly, BILLA supports another key fixture in the sports calendar with the nationwide unique initiative “SKIKIDS 2026.” This initiative is once again aimed at beginners, helping them get started in winter sports. The offer is available to children with their main residence in Lower Austria aged 5 to 10 (alpine skiing) and 8 to 12 (snowboarding).

The wristbands will be sold until September 30, 2026. Purchased wristbands can be assigned to a club of choice until October 14, 2026. The wristbands are available in all BILLA and BILLA PLUS stores in Lower Austria. No cash redemption possible. Legal recourse is excluded. Resale of the vouchers is not permitted. The organizer is Niederösterreich-Werbung GmbH.
