Expansion of the assortment and extension of delivery times in the BILLA Online Shop
New BILLA shop offers 550 m² of variety, freshness and regionality
With the Click & Collect offer, BILLA wants to make everyday life easier for its customers and make the shopping experience even more pleasant: Customers order their shopping online from home or the office and later conveniently pick it up at an agreed time - without having to drive through the shop with the shopping trolley or queue at the checkout. This leaves more time for family, friends or leisure activities. There are now a total of 155 Click & Collect branches in Vienna, compared to 35 in March last year - so the number has more than quadrupled within twelve months.
"The practical mixture of choosing online and picking up in the branch developed to become a valued option for daily grocery shopping, not only because of the special convenience factor. Especially due to the Corona pandemic, which is significantly characterised by the reduction of contacts, more and more BILLA customers are doing their shopping via Click & Collect. With the expansion of this concept, we are responding to this development and are pleased to be able to provide practical solutions for the individual concerns of our customers," explains Eric Scharnitz, Head of Sales BILLA MERKUR Austria.

But not only Click & Collect is enjoying growing popularity. Compared to 2019, the BILLA Online Shop has seen a strong increase in demand of around 80 percent since the first lockdown and this continues. In order to meet the demand, capacities were significantly increased in the shortest possible time last year and the delivery windows were decisively extended. In addition, the product range was further expanded - the BILLA online shop currently offers a selection of more than 9,000 products.
Newly opened location in Vienna Floridsdorf offers variety, freshness and regionality
In addition to the expansion of the online business, BILLA also continues to grow on the sales floor. The latest example is the new BILLA shop at Koloniestraße 77 in the 21st district, which will open on March 18th. Customers will find a wide range of fresh, seasonal and regionally produced food on a sales area of around 550 m2 - among others, 19 local suppliers from Vienna and the surrounding area, including the Viennese gingerbread & chocolate manufacturer Karl Kammerer, supply the branch with their special delicacies. The new opening is the 29th BILLA branch in the Floridsdorf district and the 331st in Vienna. A total of 18 employees work at the new location, 4 additional jobs were created.
