Within the framework of the project of the cooperative "Fanteakwa", they, in addition to the Fairtrade premiums and minimum prices, also receive additional monetary premiums, the Fairtrade Living Income Differentials, and are thus supported in achieving a living wage. The aim of "Fanteakwa" is to improve the economic independence of Ghanaian cocoa farmers. Since a higher cocoa price is often not enough to achieve this, the project takes a holistic approach and includes training in sustainable cultivation practices and efficient management.

PENNY has been using only Fairtrade, UTZ or Rainforest Alliance certified cocoa for all its own brands for several years. By 2023, all chocolate bars, pralines, Easter and Christmas confectionery, instant cocoa, biscuits and wafers as well as nut and nougat spreads will be Fairtrade certified. The cooperation with "Fanteakwa" is an important basis for the conversion.

The Fairtrade-certified "Very Fair" chocolate is now available in the three varieties "Whole Milk & Salted Caramel", "Dark & Almond" and "Darkmilk & Brownie" in 160g bars at 1.59 euros in Austrian PENNY shops.
