Together for each other: REWE Group (BILLA, BIPA, PENNY and ADEG) supplies Austrians even in difficult times

The current severe weather situation poses major challenges for the whole of Austria. The REWE Group retail companies (BILLA, BIPA, PENNY and ADEG) continue to supply the Austrian population in these difficult times. The flooding has led to technical defects in some of our stores and has had an impact on our personnel situation, as many employees have been affected by the storm themselves. Due to many road closures, some stores cannot currently be supplied, which is why some locations have been closed. Marcel Haraszti, CEO of REWE International AG: “Many thanks to the thousands of emergency personnel who have been working tirelessly since Friday to ensure the safety of the population. A big thank you also to our colleagues from the stores and warehouse locations who are helping out in the crisis area and ensuring basic supplies. Some of our locations have also been affected by the storms, which is why we have had to close some of them. We are working hard to reopen them as quickly as possible. Our product range is available as usual in the surrounding open stores. We have also already organized additional deliveries to support emergency services and those affected in the crisis areas with urgently needed food and drink. We will of course also support those employees who are affected by the floods themselves.”

Rapid assistance for emergency services and victims

REWE Group has been working closely with the local authorities and emergency services since the end of last week to provide rapid assistance and ensure supplies in the crisis areas. Yesterday, BILLA stores in Oeynhausen, Pottenstein, Enzesfeld, Pernitz, Markt Piesting and Reichenau an der Rax in Lower Austria set up supply points for the emergency services, which have been staffed by BILLA volunteers since Sunday. In addition, the first truck with 33 pallets of food for those affected and the emergency services went to Schönberg in Kamptal today. Further trucks with drinks and food from BILLA and PENNY as well as hygiene articles from BIPA are ready to go. Local ADEG retailers are also supplying emergency services in the regions with food and drink.
