Donate and do good: LEO & Lions collection day at BILLA, BILLA PLUS & Sutterlüty on 5 April

This year, BILLA PLUS, BILLA and Sutterlüty are once again sending out a strong signal of solidarity with the LEO and Lions Clubs on the traditional collection day. On Saturday 5 April, customers will have the opportunity to do something good at 111 BILLA PLUS stores, seven BILLA markets and two Sutterlüty locations in Vorarlberg. The tried-and-tested donation principle remains unchanged: Customers purchase urgently needed products in the store and then hand them over to the volunteers on site. These mainly include non-perishable staple foods that do not need to be refrigerated and hygiene products.

Herta Bohusek (BILLA Sales Manager), Ferdinand Franke (LEO & Lions Collection Day Coordinator District East), Katja Reinhardt (Store Manager BILLA PLUS St. Pölten Ost), Andreas Streit (BILLA Head of Sustainability), Robert Nagele (BILLA Board Member), Johanna Mikl-Leitner (Governor of Lower Austria), Karl Brewi (Lions Clubs International Director), Anita Elsler (Editor-in-Chief LION Austria Magazine, Lions Austria), Jörg Summer (President Lions Club St. Pölten Jakob Prandtauer), Peter Gorka (President Lions Club St. Pölten) and Adelheid Buhl (BILLA Sales Manager) are looking forward to the joint donation day on 5 April 2025.

LEO and Lions then take these to local aid organisations, women's refuges, homes and social shelters, where they benefit those affected. The initiative was launched more than ten years ago by REWE Group together with the Lions Club and has been organised almost every year since then.

Johanna Mikl-Leitner, Governor of Lower Austria: "The LEO & Lions collection day at BILLA PLUS and Sutterlüty shows what can be achieved through social cohesion. The initiative took place for the first time more than ten years ago and makes a significant contribution to people at risk of poverty. I would like to thank everyone who supported those affected throughout the country with their donation on 5 April."

Robert Nagele, BILLA Management Board member: "As one of the largest food retailers in the country, we have been implementing numerous measures to strengthen social cohesion for many decades. The LEO and Lions Collection Day emphasises this commitment once again and shows how willing our customers are to help. Together, we want to send a strong signal for the support of people at risk of poverty and hope to receive many donations on 5 April."

Lions Club and LEO Club committed to social justice

For more than 100 years, the Lions Club has been committed to helping socially disadvantaged, sick and disabled people around the world, supporting children and young people and helping in disaster situations. In Austria, the first Lions Club was founded in Graz in 1952 - there are now around 250 locations here. The independent youth organisation, the LEO Club, is highly committed to social projects.
