Most of the locations are in Upper Austria, with further acquisitions taking place in Styria and Lower Austria. The implementation and acquisition are subject to antitrust approval by the Federal Competition Authority (BWB) and the Federal Cartel Prosecutor, as well as other customary conditions for the execution of such a transaction.
‘We are delighted about this important step towards securing local supply in Austria. Our goal now is to open up new prospects for the employees affected and the independent retailers. We will therefore be holding talks with Unimarkt in the coming weeks and look forward to welcoming new colleagues and retailers,’ emphasises Marcel Haraszti, CEO of REWE International AG.
Mag. Andreas Hämmerle, Managing Director of Unimarkt, adds: ‘We have been in constructive talks with the REWE Group and are pleased that these have come to a successful conclusion. Above all, ADEG's cooperative structures offer Unimarkt retailers an ideal basis for continuing their markets.’
