  • The REWE Group, in partnership with the MINTality Foundation, is actively committed to promoting STEM careers, particularly among girls, and is helping to break down stereotypical gender roles.

  • As part of the ‘Corporate School Year’ project, the REWE Group supported pupils in creating their own digital cookbook, thereby strengthening their practical digital skills and fostering an interest in technical careers.

Practical learning and developing digital skills

As part of the “Corporate School Year” project, the REWE Group’s IT department collaborated with Neubaugasse Secondary School during the 2025/2026 school year. Together, 31 pupils and four teachers developed a digital cookbook featuring their own recipes, photos and descriptions. In addition to the creative aspect of the project, the focus was particularly on teaching digital skills and modern working methods. REWE Group IT staff supported the project as role models and provided practical insights into the world of IT careers.

“Early exposure to the world of IT can inspire young people to pursue digital careers. As the foundations for future careers are laid at this age, we want to make IT more visible and give them a sense of the diversity of IT professions. The Corporate School Year makes an important contribution to this – which is why we are happy to be involved,” says Martin Fluch, CIO of REWE International AG.

A celebratory conclusion and a long-term commitment

The highlight was the closing ceremony on 21 May 2026 at Neubaugasse Secondary School, where the digital cookbook was unveiled. The pupils were able to present their work to an audience and share valuable experiences.

“Through the collaboration with the REWE Group’s IT department, our pupils were able to experience first-hand how STEM skills work in practice. This project has impressively demonstrated how valuable cooperation between schools and industry is. The close link between theory and real-world application creates real added value for our pupils,” said Julia Eckelhart, Headteacher of Neubaugasse Secondary School.

By participating in the MINTality project “Corporate School Year”, the REWE Group is underlining its long-term commitment to education, equal opportunities and the promotion of young talent in the STEM field.
